Okay all. Cinco de Mayo is coming and you need some drinks for the party, or just some light spring beverages. You have come to the right place. I have a list of drinks and recipes and I am constantly trying them and making new ones. I will put the good ones here and if you have something to recommend, let me know.
Cinco de Mayo - various versions are online and here is the one we like the best.
2 1/2 oz. Tequila (White preferred)
1 oz. Grenadine
1 oz. Lime Juice
Shake with Ice and serve in a lowball glass
The benefit of this one is there is no juice, so it is pretty light and made up of the colors used in the Mexican flag. I tried to float the ingredients but you shake it anyway so no point.
Green Mexican
3 oz. White Tequila
3 oz. Midori Melon Liquer (for the green)
Sweet and Sour Mix
Fill a highball with ice. Mix the Tequila and Midori.
Fill with Sour Mix and shake.
Garnish with a Cherry and/or Orange slice.
This drink is green and yummy, a little sweet. Yes it is Green.
Pineapple Sunrise (My girlfriend likes this one)
3 oz. Tequila
6 oz. Pineapple juice
1 oz. Lime Juice
2 tsp. Grenadine
Mix all ingredients in cocktail shaker with ice.
Serve in lowball over ice - the drink should be a nice pink color.
The final drink for today isn't Mexican but uses Cachaca, a Brazilian liquer.
Blue Havaiana
2 oz. Cachaca
2 oz. Orange Juice
2 oz. Pineapple Juice
2 tsp Superfine Sugar
splash Blue Curacao
Shake all ingredients with ice (except Blue Curacao).
Pour over ice, finish with the splash of the Blue Curacao.
Garnish with an orange wedge.
I really liked it, but beware, Cachaca is hard to find and an acquired taste.
However, acquired tastes also include fine Scotch so that is not a bad thing.
Enjoy your drink. AC out.
